Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Condition of Service) Act, 2017

• This Act extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra and applies to all shops and commercial establishments.

• All shops and commercial establishments must be registered under this Act and Rules.

• The registration application has to be submitted within 30 days from the date of commencement of the shop or commercial establishment.

• Obtaining registration certificate and renewal of registration certificate.

a) One-Time Registration

• Shop Act license for establishments with below 9 employees.

b) License for Larger Establishments

• License for establishments with 10 or more employees (valid for a maximum of 10 years).

Compliance Requirements

• Preparation and maintenance of statutory registers as per the Act.

• Filing of Annual Returns for shops and establishments having 10 or more employees.

• Maintenance of register of wages in the prescribed form.
